Behavioral medicine

Behavioral Medicine is an interdisciplinary field that focuses on the development and integration of behavioral, psychosocial, and biomedical science knowledge and techniques relevant to the understanding of a patient’s health and disability. Through the application of this knowledge and techniques, VBM provides  comprehensive evaluations and support for integrated treatment plans in the home and school setting.

VBM staff includes Dr. Dan Larrow and Dr. Jeanne Greenblatt. Dr. Larrow is a board certified Developmental Behavioral Pediatrician with an interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD. Dr. Greenblatt is a board certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who specializes in diagnosis and treatment planning for children with developmental disabilities.

Evaluations and consultations

Vermont Behavioral Medicine (VBM) is an interdisciplinary medical practice providing comprehensive developmental behavioral and psychiatric consultations and evaluations for children and adolescents with developmental disabilities and autism spectrum disorder. VBM’s services are available to local schools, medical practitioners, agencies, and families.

VBM offers services in our Williston office in addition to opportunities for observation within the educational setting.

Supporting educational and therapeutic programs

Throughout our evaluation process, the VBM staff operates in an integrated and collaborative manner with the primary care provider, family, local school team and other agencies.  Our goal is to support the child by contributing to the development and maintenance of an appropriate and successful educational and therapeutic program.

“As a medical practitioner in rural Vermont for over 20 years, I have witnessed a dramatic rise in the number and complexity of developmental, educational, emotional and behavioral issues presenting to the primary care physicians offices.  The need for comprehensive, specialized evaluations and the complexity involved in the coordination and delivery of care and services is often overwhelming and severely compromised by time constraints.  Our hope at VBM is to provide a multi-disciplinary, collaborative resource for families, physicians, schools  and other agencies struggling to find a solution.”

– Dr. Dan Larrow, VBM Medical Director
